In my ongoing exploration of emerging talent, I recently had the pleasure of diving headfirst into the world of Won't Say Rabbit, a garage pop-punk band from New Jersey who were kind enough to share their music with me. Admittedly, the initial motive was to test some new features I was considering promoting. However, it didn't take long for me to become completely engrossed in their distinctively captivating sound.
Their music strikes me as not just cool, but Joan Jett cool. Sex Pistols cool. You might be tempted to ask, "Am I aging myself yet?" But you see, that's the thing about good music; it transcends time. It’s a rich blend of punk rock history reimagined for the contemporary listener. While their bio mentions punk-pop, to my ears, it's pure, unadulterated punk rock.
In their track, "Just a Prisoner", the bass is so resoundingly prominent that it threatens to blow out my headphones. And their latest release, "Thirty Years", sees the band introducing stylish guitar arrangements that elevate their punk roots with an almost artful finesse.
The band consists of Brian, who handles guitar and W.S. Rabbit drawings, Tom on bass guitar and keyboards, and Beth lending her powerful vocals to their songs. Drummers Frank, John, Billy, and Juan have contributed to the band’s sound over the years.
Above all, Won't Say Rabbit exudes a palpable belief in the power of music. Their message to listeners is clear: music has the potential to change your mood, shift your perspective, and occasionally, transform your life.
You can indulge in more of Won't Say Rabbit's dynamic sound on their YouTube channel, follow their journey on Instagram, or join their conversation on Twitter.
Whether you’re a die-hard punk rock fan or you’re just beginning to explore the genre, Won't Say Rabbit offers a uniquely compelling and thoroughly enjoyable listening experience. Their music is a testament to the enduring allure of punk rock, and I'm excited to see where their journey takes them next.
